  1. What's the difference between Direct Connect® service and Nationwide Direct ConnectSM service?
Direct Connect® and Nationwide Direct ConnectSSM services both offer the same great convenience – you can get right through instantly with the push of a button using your cell phone's long-range, digital walkie-talkie feature. The difference between these services is where you use them:
    • Direct Connect® service lets you make walkie-talkie calls in your home market. With it, you can instantly contact other Nextel customers who are also in your home market.
    • Nationwide Direct ConnectSM service lets you make walkie-talkie calls in any market, to any market. With it, you can instantly contact other Nextel customers coast-to-coast.
See the coverage map for more information on the markets supported by the Nextel National Network.

  2. What types of coast-to-coast walkie-talkie calls can I make with Nationwide Direct ConnectSM service?
Nationwide Direct ConnectSM service lets you make two types of walkie-talkie calls:
    • In-market: You can travel to a different market and instantly connect with Nextel customers in that area. For example, you can instantly contact a business partner traveling with you as well as the client you're visiting. There's no additional charge for in-market calls other than the Direct Connect® minutes you use.
    • Market-to-market: You can make a Nationwide Direct ConnectSM call from any calling area to any calling area. For example, when you're on the road, you can instantly contact a colleague back at the office. Or, while in your home market, you can instantly contact a friend who lives three states away. Market-to-market calls will be charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, or you can sign up for unlimited access. Market-to-market calls will also deduct from the Direct Connect® minutes included in your plan.

  3. What do I need to use Direct Connect® service?
    • You need a Nextel phone.
